Your Security Tech
Victor Fernandez III currently serves as a Chief Warrant Officer 2 in the United States Army. As a “Information Protection Technician,” he is responsible for engineering active & passive network defense capabilities and coaching junior cybersecurity personnel on how to resist, recognize, and respond to intrusions to the Department of Defense Information Network. Victor has over 11 years of experience protecting and defending Air and Missile Defense, Cyber, and Signal units.
He graduated as Summa Cum Laude from American Military University in 2018, earning a Bachelors of Science in Information Systems Security with a concentration in Digital Forensics. He holds multiple technical certifications from ISC(2), GIAC, CompTIA, EC-Council, Cisco, Microsoft, LPI, and the ETA. Victor is also a member of Infragard, “a non-profit organization serving as a public-private partnership between U.S. businesses and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).”
Victor started this blog because, despite having terrible handwriting, he wanted to share his notes from various IT and cybersecurity training events he has attended. He subscribes to the idea of being a “force multiplier,” or directly improving the skills of those around him in order to have a lasting impact on his community. His long term goals for the blog are to get it published as a book and accepted into the Library of Congress.
